Fire Department Conducts Citizen’s Fire Academy
The Fire Department will be conducting a FREE class starting, September 19th – November 14th, 2017, taking a week off for National Night Out on Oct 3, for Fort Worth residents ages 19 and up. Academy courses are set for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex 505 W. Felix St. Fort Worth TX 76115.
Purpose of the academy is to increase participant’s knowledge on fire safety and to provide and in-depth understanding of the Fort Worth Fire Department.
The training program consists of classroom and practical instruction. Instruction is comprehensive and, each week, highlights a different area of the department, taught by firefighters with expertise in their respective specialty fields. The program involves hands-on activities and field trips to fire stations and other fire facilities.

- Firefighter Selection Process & Training Station
- Fire Safety Education
- Fire Alarm Office & Supply
- Marine Rescue
- Prevention & Code Enforcement
- Office of Emergency Management
- Fire Investigations
- Technical Rescue
- Airport/Aircraft Rescue
- Hazardous Materials
- CPR & First Aid course

Graduates of the Citizens Fire Academy are not commissioned firefighters. They do, however, become more familiar with the operation of the Fort Worth Fire Department and participate in alumni activities.
